A BIT OF HISTORY

It was on August 4th, 1951, that the lovely lady in the flowered blouse, Thema, born April 24th, 1924 and the old man with the white hair (front row center) William (Bill) born May 31, 1919. We were married on August 4th 1951. At the Federated Church in Kendall, Wisconsin. We have lived since 1952 on a farm N.E. of Wilton. Sold the Farm in 1975. Keep ten acres and build a new solar heated house on it. Thema taught school up until 1986. I farmed at first. Then went into photography and realestate before retireing in 1999.

Sitting to my left, in a dark blue dress is our daughter Sue Ann, who was born on June 30th, 1953. She is at present a teacher at Coulee Region Christian School at West Salem but taught a number of years in Chicago, Tomah, and Madison at Christian schools there. She has an apartment with us.

On the left side of the picture is is our daughter, Dawn, born June 25th, 1960 Family. She married Bernard Lynch, directly back of her, on July 10th, 1983. Bernard works as maintenance supervisor of St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. They live in their country home not far from Brooklyn WI. Their first son Joseph, born June 8th, 1984, will graduate from Belleville High, near Brooklyn WI. this May. Kelsie, was born on April 12, 1986 (her grandmother Weber's birthday) and is is a sophamore at Bellville high school. Thomas, born May 7th, 1994. He is first grade at Bellville Elementary School.

Our Son Roger, born on October 8th, 1954. He is the manager of the Super 8 Motel in Sparta, his wife Sandra (Farris) does private tutoring for a Sparta family. They were married on June 10th, 1978. They live in Sparta. Their oldest daughter, Tracy, was born January 13th, 1980. She married Nicolas Adams, in 2000 and they now live in Atlanta Georgie, Nick is a Top Saleman for Colman Campers and Tracyworks as Doctors Assistant in Atlanta. Their Son Elliot, was born January 13th, 1983 is a first year student at Universtiy of Wisconsin at Platville, Wisconsin. Their next daughter, Cherie, was born November 2nd, 1981. She now is finishing a course in Massage Therapy at Madison, Wisconsin. A wedding is in her future this coming August. Their youngest daughter Nicole (Nikki) born on November 4th, 1984 graduates from Sparta High this coming May and will be going on to the University of Wisconsin at Stevens point this fall.

This is an introduction to our family. The members of our family are all involved in one way or another in this great new media of Cyberspace Adventures. Way back when our Son Roger was just out of high school, he bought a Radio Shack computer, I can't think of the name, We went together and set up our first computer business, called Weber Comp-U-List Systems and operated it out of our photo studio. It was no big deal but it was fun and was the beginning of my addiction to computers.

A few years later our youngest daughter Dawn, during the time the Cubans were stationed at Fort McCoy, got a job there working with computers and then later transferred to Madison to work for EDS, a computer network owned by Ross Perot. It was while she was there that she met her husband Bernard Lynch. It was while their children were quite young, they also bought a computer and got on the Internet and they too became addicted to using computers. Their son Joseph, has really gone into it and is now a programer after school and weekends at CUNNA in Madison. He was only 15 when help me set up this WEB Site. Both Joe and his sister Kelsie have their computer and Joe is now in the process of building as computer for Thomas.

All of Roger and Sandy's children have also grown up with access to a computer and they all have their own e-mail and use their parent's computer whenever it is not being used by someone else. Their oldest daughter, Tracy has her own computer. Their son Elliot has a real knack of doing many things on the computer, including some interesting things of art.

Our oldest daughter, Sue is next to the last to get into computers having done so about a two years ago. But she, too, is getting quite enthused with using hers. She is on the Internet but also uses it in her school work.

My wife Thema, has not really been bitten by the computer bug yet,but uses the word processor now and then, and does write an occasional e-mail. She also corrects many of my articles. In fact any mistakes you find on this document were made by me but missed by her. She is a great proof reader. Oops! you say you found one. Well none of us are perfect. Thanks for hanging in there. Some times I get carried away with my own words.

COURAGE

My Grandpa had courage during World War II. He didn’t fight in World War II because he didn’t believe wars were the right way to fix problems. He felt that there was better ways to solve problems than people killing each other. Because the government said he had to do something after being drafted he had to be a smokejumper. First he had to go through training to train to parachute, learn ways to put out fires, and learn what to do if you’re trapped in a fire. After his training he had to fight forest fires. He had to jump out of airplanes into forest fires. As soon as he got to the ground he used an axe to put out the fire. After the war he went to Germany and helped feed families who had didn’t have much, and gave them blankets and milk.

The Above was written by our Grandson Joseph Lynch. Thanks Joe.

Son Of Roger and Sandra Weber - Graduated U.Wisconsin May 2006.
Has Volunteered For 2 Years "Peace Corp" Service In Uganda , Africa.

Will Arrived in Uganda Today March 5th, 2007

Below Is A E-mail Letter He Send Out
To All His Relatives and Friends

Family and Friends,
It is amazing how time has gone by and my departure is fast approaching. In about a week from today, I will be leaving. I thought as the time got closer I would become more nervous and anxious about going. Instead, I am becoming increasingly excited about my opportunity to serve in the Peace Corps. As I think about the place where I will live, the work that I'll do, and the people that I'll meet; I feel that each aspect of this experience will be unique and I look forward to it all. Except for maybe getting sick, I could do without that.

Currently, I am finishing up my last few days of work and packing up my stuff. I feel that I am ready to go and have only have a few things to take care of before I leave.

To celebrate the beginning of this adventure, I am having a few going away parties. Yes, I do need more than one. It starts today (Friday, Feb. 23rd) at 4:30 pm in the Rathskeller of the Memorial Union in Madison. Feel free to stop by and hang out. Then tomorrow (Sat. Feb 24th) I am having the official going away party at my house on the east side of Madison. The address is 714 Ontario St. Madison, WI 53714 . Things will start around 7pm. Lastly, on Thursday March 1st, I will be having a "get together" at my parents house (N5035 Sunset Vista Rd. Onalaska, WI 54650) from 4-8pm. I would love to see you there.

You may be wondering if I am actually leaving or just made up an excuse to throw a few parties. Well I really am going, and it starts bright and early on the morning of March 2nd. I fly out of the LaCrosse airport at 5:06am en route to my staging event in Philadelphia, PA with a short layover in Minneapolis. I should arrive in Philadelphia around 10:30am with plenty of time to make it to the hotel and register for my staging event. Sunday March 4th

  • 10:30am Check out of hotel
  • 12pm Leave for airport

We are flying out of JFK airport in New York for Uganda on Sunday, March 4th at 7:20pm. After layovers in Brussels, and Nairobi, Kenya we arrive in Entebbe, Uganda on March 5th at 10:55pm. We will stay at a town near the airport for a day or so to recover from jet lag before we go to stay with our host families in Mityana, Uganda. We will stay in Mityana for the 10 week duration of our training. There will be more info about that later.

You are probably wondering how you can contact me and send me cool stuff. The first way is through email. I'm not sure how often I will have access, but I'm guessing every couple of weeks. Second, I started a blog: Here: http://elliotpc.blogspot.com/ ). There you can read my posts, view pictures, and make comments. I currently do not have much posted but I'll add more soon. Third, You can send me stuff in the mail. I would recommend numbering your letters and packages since the mail service can be quite slow. My address during training will be:

    Elliot Weber, Peace Corps Trainee
    P.O. Box 29348
    Kampala, Uganda

After my training is over, I may get a local postal office box near the place I am living. However, you you may use the the address below to send me letters at anytime during my service.

    Elliot Weber, PCV
    U.S. Peace Corps
    P.O. Box 7007
    Kampala, Uganda

Lastly, I am looking into getting a cell phone there. If and when this happens I will let you know.

While it will difficult to leave friends and family to live in a distant country in a manner that I am unaccustomed to, I am deeply encouraged by the support I have received from all of you. I realize that the wealth that I have is not in my things, but in the relationships I have made and will make.

Everyone I talk to asks the same questions. Are you packed? Do you have to learn the language? Where are you going again? Did you get your shots yet? When do you leave? Are you excited? I'll give you the same answers I give everyone else: No. Yes. Uganda. No. March 2nd. and....Oh yes!!!

    Take care,
    Elliot Click Here

WE HAD A LOVELY 50th WEDDING CELEBRATION
We Would Like To Share It With You Via This Page

Thema (Tompkins) and William Weber August 4th 1951

    50 Annversary
Saturday August 4th 1951, Kendall, Federated Church, Kendall,WI.
Brides Parents, Lester & Lois Tompkins, Grooms Parents, Herman & Susan Weber

FOR BETTER FOR WORSE AND FOR 50 Years (18,262 DAYS) WE WILL HAVE SHARED OUR LIVES TOGETHER AS OF SATURDAY AUGUST 4th 2001

    One Day At A Time.
As we close in on our 50 years of sharing our lives together, I am convinced that the central point in making that possible is that we made the most of each day as it occured.

If we had kept a journal and written one line a day for these 18,262 days we will have shared together, it would be a standard sized book of about 365 pages. As we look back over this time, we cannot believe that at the age of 27 and 32 years at the time of our marriage, both of us have been priviliged to make it all the way to the 50th Anniversary.

I am sure that other factors entered into our life extension. We tried to live modestly, Having a garden that produced the main stay of our diet, grown without herbicides and psticides, using our own compost and organic fertilizer. We enjoyed the pleasures of life, but tried not to over indulge. We enjoyed traveling and took a couple weeks vacation to some part of America and Canada during the years our children were growing up.

We were also a part of that generation where both of us worked nearly full time, Thema teaching full time 27 years of our married life. Teaching the first year in Sparta and then coming to Wilton where she taught 26 years before retireing from teaching in 1986.

The first six years of our married life I farmed on a farm I bought from Harold Komisky in the spring of 1952, In 1957 we opened up a Camera shop in Wilton and a couple of years later turned that into a photography Studio, Moving that over to Tomah in Mid 60's calling it Webers Photography. I operated that until 1981 when I went into the realestate busines as a part of the Bob Dippen Agency. I remained in realestate until the end of 1999.

We were blessed with tree wonderful children, Sue Ann, Roger and Dawn and now have 8 terrific grandchildren, Tracy (Weber) Adams, Nicolais Adams, Cherie, Elliot and Nicole Weber.Joseph, Kelsie and Thomas Lynch.

Thema and I have been to two trips to Europe since our retirement as well as a Cruise to Alaska and Mexico. Besides the great times we have with our childrend and grandchildern we both seem busy everday with Themas Crafts and Church work and me and my gardening and computer addiction especially working on my WEB Sites.

We have had a wonderful life together. 50 years sure go by in a hurry. We want to thank all of you who helped us make this 50th Wedding Anniversary such a memorable day for us.

    Thema and Bill Weber
