ANDREW H. WITT, 85, KENDALL DIED MAY 6TH, 2004

Andrew H. Witt, 85, of Kendall, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 6, 2004, in the presence of his family. He was born Aug. 24, 1918, the son of Arnold and Minnie (Zinke) Witt in the town of Wellington. Andrew was a lifelong resident of the town of Wellington, where he farmed for many years with his brother, Philip, and nephews. His greatest pleasures in life came from his involvement in the family farm, visiting with family and friends and being a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church. His gentle nudges for attention, talkative nature and friendly smile will never be forgotten.

Andrew is survived by three nephews he considered as his family, Jay (Annie) Witt, Craig (Kathy) Witt, both of Kendall, and Mark (Mary) Witt of Arlington; two sisters, Gertrude DeChant and Mildred Radke; one brother-in-law, Alois Schendel; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Gerhardt, Philip and Melvin; one sister, La Verne Schendel; one sister-in-law, Sally Witt; and two brothers-in-law, Frank DeChant and Ivan Radke.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 10 a.m., at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, in the town of Wellington. The Rev. Fred Fedke will officiate. Burial will be in the South Ridge Lutheran Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, Kendall; and at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of the services.
