PALMER OLSON, AGE 86, RURAL CASHTON DIED DEC.16th

Palmer Olson, age 86, of rural Cashton, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at his home. He was born on Dec. 8, 1913, at home on Lovaas Ridge to Arnie and Annie Olson. On June 27, 1937, he was united in marriage to Esther Siverhus at rural Cashton. While living in La Crosse, he attended the Wisconsin Business College. He was employed by the Burg Paint Store in La Crosse. He also worked at the ordinance plant for the U.S. Army during WWII.

In 1955, they moved to Timber Coulee where he spent the rest of his life. He was a member of Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church and a longtime council member. Palmer was a lifetime member of Trout Unlimited, the Snowflake Ski Club and the Rod and Gun Club of Westby. He was also one of the original planning members of the Coon Creek Watershed Project. He turned his lifelong dream of fishing into a very prosperous business: Olson Fly and Lure Co. He enjoyed traveling the world over for the wonderful scenery and ultimate fishing. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was very proud of all his loved ones. Before he passed on to a better place, he said he had a wonderful life and fulfilled his life's dreams.

Palmer is survived by three children: Ronald P. Olson of Chaska, Minn.; two daughters, Jean (Roger) Hage of Coon Valley and Linda Clausen of Cashton; five grandchildren, David (Jill) Hage of Lincoln, Neb., Debra Hage of Coon Valley, Richard (Michele) Hage of Champlin, Minn., Jon (Ruth) Hage of La Crosse and Lisa Olson of Minneapolis, Minn.; six stepgrandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and seven step great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Sather of Westby; one sis ter-in-law, Carla Olson of Westby; many nieces and nephews; numerous fishing friends including Ron Ritter of La Crosse. He will be missed by so many people and his very special pets, Callie, Sasha and Puzzles.

To his family and friends, he will be remembered as the ``ultimate fisherman.``

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther, on April 15, 1987; twin granddaughters, Lori and Lisa Hage; four brothers, Oscar, John, Alf and Art; twin sisters in infancy; and one daughter-in-law, Marge Olson.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastors Paul Jordahl and Steven Meyer will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church.
